Join us for a free, interactive evening celebrating the music, history and culture of Conjunto and Tejano music!
You don’t have to be a musician to attend. This all-ages workshop is for anyone interested in learning more about the rich musical traditions and Mexican-American heritage behind the music.
Led by Mike Torres III, John Ontiveros and members of LA45, along with legendary Tejano artist Ruben Ramos, the evening will combine storytelling, musical history, live demonstrations and hands-on participation. Hear stories about the evolution of Conjunto, Chicano and Tejano music and discover how different instruments, sounds and styles have shaped the music across generations.
Musicians, bring your instrument! Attendees who want to participate will have the opportunity to learn directly from members of LA45, break into informal instrument groups, pick up playing and style tips, and come together to play music as a group.
Whether you come to play, listen, learn or simply experience the music, everyone is welcome. And don't worry if you can't arrive right at 6:30 or need to leave early. Come when you can!
FREE! Space is limited to 50 attendees and pre-registration is required.
Come learn, listen, play and celebrate the music and culture that continue to bring generations together.
